Dr. Pamela Tot0, PhD, OTR/L, BCG, FAOTA
Occupational Therapy and it’s Distinct Role in Aging in Place

Pamela Toto, PhD, OTR/L, BCG, FAOTA is an occupational therapist with expertise in reducing disability and promoting aging in place for older adults. An Associate Professor and Program Director for the Doctor of Clinical Science in Occupational Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Toto has over 30 years of clinical, teaching and research experience advancing the role of occupational therapy on productive aging for older adults. She is board certified in Gerontology by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and a recognized Fellow for her expertise and leadership in gerontology. In 2016, Dr. Toto received the AOTA Recognition of Achievement Award for her work promoting occupational therapy for community-dwelling older adults. Dr. Toto’s clinical and research interests focus on the implementation of evidence-based strategies in “real world” settings to promote independence, participation and healthy aging in older adults. Dr. Toto has a long history of professional leadership at both state and national levels. Past elected positions within AOTA include Gerontology Special Interest Section Chairperson, Chairperson of the Special Interest Section Council, and Board of Directors. She currently serves in a board appointed role as chairperson of the AOTA Occupational Therapy Advanced Certification Commission.
