Presenter Bio: Melissa Anderson completed her doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy at Creighton University in 2011. She joined QLI’s nationally renowned program for brain injury and spinal cord injury rehabilitation as an Occupational Therapist. Melissa Anderson developed the Telerehab program at QLI and is a key contributor to develop highly individualized programs with her creativity and innovation through the use of technology.
Learning Objectives:
- Compare and contrast telecommunication and information technologies appropriate for synchronous and asynchronous telehealth service delivery.
- Identify principles of communication with the client, healthcare team, and client’s assistant when using a telehealth service delivery model, such as context, coaching, verbal and non-verbal strategies, therapeutic use of self, and rapport building.
- Recognize and explain culturally diverse values and beliefs that may influence a telehealth therapy session
- Identify safety, ethical, and privacy considerations when selecting and using telehealth as an occupational therapy service delivery model.
- Discuss state licensure and barriers with licensure
